World Table Tennis Championships 2021

The World Table Tennis Championships 2021 was  held in Honston, US. The match started  from 23 to 29 November and it was the 50th edition. It is the first time that the championship held in US in Houston by beating the Agadir, Morocco.

The World Table Tennis Championships was won by the Fan Zhendong belongs to China won the men’s singles title on 29 November 2021, He also won the 2020 Olympic silver medal and in 2014 Youth Olympic Games champion.  He entered in competition as the World champion and he showed his form early when he takes over the Truls Moregoard from Sweden.

Fan won the fifth World Gold medal title but first gold medal in singles. He won silver medal in 2017, and bronze medal in single in 2015. He also won tittles in 2019,2016,1014 and doubles in 2017.

The International Table Tennis Federation originally planned the regional as well continental stage events in qualification of championships finals in Houston but due to the circumstance of covid 19 pandemic, no such events happens. The qualification was based on the world ranking. China, Japan, Chinese Taipei, Germany, South Korea and Hong Kong were eligible for 5 entries in singles events and 4 players in doubles.

All the events were played as Singles elimination tournament and total 5 events on individual were contested. The first round had 128 places for singles and 64 places for doubles events. In single matches best of seven and in doubles best of five. China opted to send the youngest players which is a good decision for the 2024 Summer Olympic that is going to be held in Paris, France.

On position 1 China won 4 gold and 1 silver medal bronze 5.5, total 10.5 medal

On position 2 Sweden won 1 gold and 1 silver medal total 2 medal

On position 3 Japan won 2 silver and 1 bronze medal total 3 medal

On position 4 South Korea won 1 silver total 1 medal

On position 5 Chinese Taipei won 1 bronze medal. total 1 medal

On position 6 Germany was there and won 1 bronze medal total 1 medal.

On position 7 Luxembour was there and won 1 bronze medal total 1.

On position 8 United States of America won 5.5 Bronze medal total 0.5
